A brush past destiny
Among treacherous rocks by the sea
I scratch my knee as I jump
From one jiggly stone to the other
I break down from exhaustion
Like an old steam engine at its final hour
While wave after wave of emotion
Ebbs like the tide at sea
I feel myself sink to the bottom
And touch the rocks that stand strong
Beneath the surface
I am drowning in my own tears
Caught up in a ripple of panic
Drifting onto the horizon
Of endless disbelief.
Over the Edge
